We have published new spy-shots of the new 4th generation USDM CR-V on our main news and rumour section. Visit http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=991215 to see the photos, three in total, and discuss with TOV forumers about the car.
As the CR-V is a global model, expect the asian version to be very similar in overall design. However while the USDM CR-V uses the 2.4l engine, expect the asian version to continue to use an R20A. The new 1.8l Civic's R18A now no longer utilize the special i-VTEC which reduces pumping loss for light throttle positions, so there is a high possibility the R20A will follow the same development. If so, it should give the new 4G CR-V better performance at low speeds which at the moment is slightly lacking, especially at move-off from stationary. For asia, it is again expected that only the 4WD version will be available, again mated to the 5AT.
Based on history, if the USDM CR-V is launched this year, then the asian version should be launched next year, probably 2nd half of next year.
