SPECIAL : HONDA MALAYSIA ANNOUNCES PRECAUTIONARY UPDATE FOR 87,182 UNITS OF HONDA VEHICLES

Petaling Jaya, 21 May 2015 - Honda Malaysia today has undertaken the initiative to commence a precautionary update for 87,182 units of Honda vehicles that comprise a range of models as follows:

• City      (2003 - 2008 model - i.e. manufactured - year)
• Civic     (2003 - 2008 model year)
• CR-V     (2002 - 2007 model year)
• Jazz      (2004 - 2006 model year)
• Stream  (2004 - 2005 model year)

This precautionary exercise is necessary to replace the driver and passenger airbag inflators with newly produced inflators for all affected models. Honda Malaysia deeply regrets the inconvenience caused to all affected customers.

The precautionary efforts do not affect Honda's current selling models.

As of today, there were no crashes or injuries related to this issue reported in Malaysia.

Honda Malaysia will be informing all customers involved via notification letters which will include details of the product update. Customers who receive these letters are advised to send their vehicles to the nearest authorized Honda dealer for inspection.

The replacement works will be carried out once the parts are ready and the costs of parts and labour will be borne by Honda Malaysia. Vehicle owners can also check their vehicle's product update status by calling Honda's Toll Free number 1-800-88-2020 or visit any authorized Honda dealer.

Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. continues to urge owners of Honda vehicles affected for the product updates to get their vehicles checked and parts replaced at any authorized Honda dealers as soon as possible.

Special note by TOVA : This is related to the recent Takata airbag issue so we advise all TOVA readers who owns a Honda in the affected year of manufacture as identified above to have their update done asap.
